SAMAR... A nice 24-hr Arabian Chill-out place

We were feeling bored one night and we chanced upon this cool chill out place along Arab street. (Forgot the exact address liao)...

The name of this place is called "SAMAR". This is a Arabian-themed cafe, whereby they serve mostly traditional Arabian-styled food and drinks. There is also live Arabian music upstairs and customers have to take off their shoes and sit on the carpeted floor. Actually those people sitting below can also enjoy the live music from upstairs cos the place is quite quiet at night and the music was quite loud....

Very relax, yah?!

I took a few shots of the interior as well.... I don't dare to take photos upstairs as the live band is still playing and there were alot of people there.... Wait they walloped me up if I took pictures of them... Hahahaha!!!

This is the stairways leading to upstairs...

As upstairs were full, we found a seat downstairs and started to order our drinks.... The waiters there were mostly foreigners. The waiter who served us were from Nepal...

Actually, the custoemrs who visited this place were mostly Arabians and some Muslims...
Caught sight of a few "Osama-lookalike" customers walking out of the cafe! Hahhaa!!!

Both of us ordered their traditional tea.... Must at least try some of the true-blue Arabic tea mah....

I was really feeling sleepy that night that I forgot to take a picture of the teas and I forgot to take pictures of the outside surroundings...

Sigh...

Anyway, this is a Must-Go place lah... It is 24-hrs too!!! Just nice for those night cats!

Lunar New Year!!!

How time flies....
(Such an old-fashioned opener... Well, this reminds me of schooldays, when I always start essays with a few common phrases...)

Anyway, since I was free that night, I decided to take a few photos of the Chinese New Year decor at Chinatown... While we were driving the past the street, I was so amazed at the super-duper long queue of people waiting to buy "Lim Chee Guan" barbeque pork! I was not exaggerating, mind you! The queue was super-duper LONG, like leading to no-where... And most amazingly, all the people in the queue gladly stood and waited, like they have nothing better to do... Sigh...

What's the big deal about BARBEQUE Pork anyway???

It's just a piece of flavoured pork slice lor! Nothing special! At normal days, you could easily buy this food anywhere anytime!

Well, enough of porkie thingie... As there were too many people, we decided not to walk the street and only to take the decor from inside the car....

This archway looked so cute! All the "dog" statues on top of the archway are constantly moving and turning... So nice!

While we were driving off, I saw this spotlight shining onto the HBD flat near Chinatown...

Cool!

HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR!!!!

几时带我去兜风?

One of my loyal Blog fan, Dennis just bought a new RED van!

Yoohooo!!!! Damn cool, right???

Last Saturday after my Japanese class, my bf was supposed to pick me up at "the usual place". Thus, I stood at the meeting place for about 30 seconds, trying hard to spot my bf's car... He told me that he had already reached the place, but I couldn't see him at all... Strange...

Then, he sms me to take a look at my right...
hmmmm.... ok, I did just that.. No sight of him leh...

Then my bf called me... "Hey darling, I was here all along, looking at you! Hahaha! Did u see that RED van just behind you???"

AHHHHHH!!!!!!

So, he was behind me all along! Lucky I didn't do any "unglamous" stuff.. (You know lah.. like picking nose, scratching backside, winking at other guys...etc... hahahaha!!!!) Anyway, So cool! I was quite surprised... I always got the idea that vans would be quite old and with noisy engines... I was pleased to see that Dennis's van was so new and comfortable... and trendy as well!!! Sweet!!!

so.... Dennis ah... 几时带我去兜风?

Maybe lah....

It had been raining since last night and the rain had not stopped yet... And worse still, it was SUNDAY!! Argghh...

Sean asked us whether we would like to buy KFC to his house for dinner... He will cook rice and vegetables to go with the KFCs... Ok lah... Better than staying at home...

It was still raining and I had to wait inside the car while my bf went to buy KFC...

See how heavy the rain was!!!

Spotted this poor guy... He had to cycle under this kind of weather!!

Finally!!! KFC for dinner!!! Yeah! At least something to be happy about....

On our way to our KFC dinner!!!

By the way....

The Moral of this blog is...

Lazy evening at Bro-in-Law's store...

Sister Lin has been asking us to visit bro-in-law's store at Mandai Estate.. We were quite hesitant cos the store was so FAR!! Mandai leh!! I thought only zoo exist at that part of Singapore...

Anyways......... Too many holidays made us very bored... Thus, we decided to drop by the store to take a look. It was a rainy evening and thus, we don't mind going somewhere to hide from the rain...

It was quite difficult to find this place and we had to make about 3 U-turns to finally reach the store...

Quite cool, yah!

It was raining heavily outside, thus my camera angle could only stretch this far...

We decided to take cover inside the small office space...

Since it was still raining heavily outside, to kill boredom, my bro-in-law started to play a VCD movie, named "The Eye". I have watched this movie before though...

This movie is about a blind lady who regained her eyesight through an eye transplant. However, after she regained her visual, she started seeing those "things" around her. On the verge of a nervous breakdown, she and her doctor decided to find out more abt the eye donor. According to the medical file, the eye donor was from Thailand and thus, they then made their way to Thailand, in search for the eyes' donor.

(Hahahahaha!!! Did he SEE something???)

It was only then that they realised that the eye donor was a girl that could see "things". Many times she saw soul-takers and tried to warn her village people about death. But no one believed her and she was being despised by all people, even her mother too. As a result, she committed suicide and donated her eyes to the blind lady in Taiwan.

This was a nice movie and those "ghost" and "souls" scenes were tastefully done, definitely not those typical Hollywood-styled scary movies...

Bro-in-law was very kind... While we were watching movie, he made Long-jin tea for us! And according to him, we could lose fats from just drinking this tea!

My bf should drink more then! Look at his stomach!!! Yahahahahaha!!!!!

I was not much better! I tried to cover my fat face, but still..... no use... Sigh....

Anyway, in the meantime while I was watching the movie, Clement decided to wash his car (FINALLY!!) Then I realised that he was not the one washing his dirty car... My bro-in-law asked his worker to help! (Chey!!)

And he really did a thorough job!

And so, while the worker was busily washing and polishing his car, me, clement and his bro-in-law were chit-chatting while watching movie inside the office!

And it was still raining heavily outside... So nice to sip warm tea, watch movie and listen to Bro-in-law talking about his experiences on following some masters on"spirits-catching" jobs in HDB flats....

Shiok!!

Happy New Year!!! (Belated lah...)

I have been really slow in updating my blog recently... and when I realised that I actually got a lot of die-hard fans out there, all waiting everyday to read new posts in my blog, I am so TOUCHED!!!

Yahahahaha!!! Like real...

Well... Back to topic... This blog is supposed to be posted on 2 Jan 2006.. Cos I went to watched the New Year Fireworks and I felt that I should share some of the pictures with everyone out there, especially to those readers overseas! But as usual, my excuse was that I was really busy and blah blah blah....

Anyway...The traffic was bad. We were driving along Orchard road, on our way to Raffles City to catch the Fireworks... the Fireworks was at Esplanade, but knowing that roads leading to Esplanade were closed and there sure gonna be tons of people there, we decided to watch the fireworks at Raffles City, which was just nearby!

Anyway, it was about 11.40pm already!!! Had to HURRY!!!

Traffic Police were all having a hard time trying to sooth out the traffic flow...

Finally, we reached Raffles City!!! While we made our way up the escalator from the underground carpark, we heard the "bang, Poom, boom"!! It's the FIREWORKS!!

We rushed out of Raffles city to see the fireworks that just started...

My bf took alot of pictures.. But as the fireworks were up and gone in a flash, most of the photos were not very clear...

There were alot of people watching too...

And I caught sight of those people in the hotel room! One of the room was packed with people! I guess these people must be students who booked the room for some party with classmates before school re-opened...

I decided to take a shot too!

After about 15min, the fireworks finished... And almost immediately, the crowd started to disperse... (WOW! So rush meh??? Wonder why people were rushing back for???)

And to my horror... Look at the floor!!! How could they litter all over the place??? I thought Singaporean are very considerate and generous people who like to donate and help poor people????

Anyway, none of my business lah.... (Another Singaporean Trait - Bo-Chap!! HAHAAAH)

The road started to be packed with cars of people leaving the area....

Wanted to take pictures with the police man... But he looked very stressed and was super busy as the road started to crowd with cars again, thus, I only could take picture of this "thing"!!

Chay!!!

We were on our way out, but the traffic were damn slow that I had to entertain myself again...

My bf likes to drive and sms at the same time!!! This time I caught him red-handed!!! Can blackmail him!! hmmm......

We were stuck at the road along Westin Hotel... There were so many people around! We were still wondering what was wrong when I caught sight of .....

People were just crossing the road, no matter whether there were cars or not!!! Thus, all cars had to stop and let the human crowd pass!!! No wonder there was a jam!!!

We were one of the victim too... We were trapped inside our car while tons and tons of people just walked and squeezed pass our car like we were invisible!!! My bf can't move the car cos there were too many people in front us, including kids...

More and more people... I decided to wind down the window and took this picture...

AMAZING!!!

Finally the hotel security staff came out to direct the traffic... Only then could we drive the car off... And by then, it was about 12.40am already! Wow! We were trapped there for abt 30min!

Saw some poor souls at the bus stop... There were no cabs in sight at all and taking bus seemed to be the only way out....

Anyways......... I was feeling happy cos I am going for supper at Macdonald's at Kallang! This would be my first meal for the year 2006!!!

Happy 2006!!!
