A lazy kopi and prawnie dinner with Nan, Kermit and Koji-san

It was a rainy Sunday and I was actually quite yawniee today...

But very nuah and bored at home lor... So decided to jio Kermit and nan out for coffee.. And coincidentally, Koji san (Nan's Japanese fren) came to Singapore and wanted to go buy a wallet. Thus, we decided to meet up for coffee and get-to-know Koji san!

We ended up having traditional kopi at Ah Kun and then we went to the popular prawn noodles stall at Far East Square to eat Koji's most favourite PRAWN MEE!

Honestly, I haven't ate prawn mee for about ... I think 4 years? Or maybe 5 years bah... Hahah! I love prawn mee de, but I don't take prawnie, tats why I didn't really eat it for years.....

Anyway, it was a nice outing with Koji san and he was a fun guy to talk to... =)

An afternoon of Volunteering work ~~ with SADeaf kids

Remember last year I did a stage performance for the SADeaf kids at Bishan Library? Please CLICK here.

Anyway, it's been another year and since they have decided not to continue with the stage show, there is a party cum carnival for these kids at our CEO house this afternoon... And since I have not been practicing my sign language for a year liao, I decided to sign up and be a volunteer for today....

I was assigned to take care of 3 kids! Wow!! I was very scared at first! 3 at a go??? How to manage? But I guess no choice lah, cos the kids outnumbered the volunteers....

I met my kid (only 1 turned up at SADeaf though) and took the bus together with her to our CEO house.

The organiser will appoint another two more kids to me when we reached CEO house lah... Anyway, this is my kid, Shariffar. She is 90% deaf and although with hearing aid, she cannot hear at all. And my sign language was super lousy!!! I totally CANNOT remember a single thing!!! HAhahha!!! But think she also got used to it liao lah.... (Shariffar took this photo for me!!! the bus was moving, so the photo looked "blur blur"!)

Anyway she was very adorable and very active! When we reached the house, she immediately threw her bag to me and ran off to play at each of the stalls.... The other 2 kids that were assigned to me on the spot were quieter and not very active... I had a hard time trying to keep watch on the 2 quieter ones while keeping an eye on Shariffar who was already running around!!!! Aiyoh.....

Well, there were a few stalls there.....

Got : T-SHIRT STALL, whereby kids can make their own T-shirts, by drawing on it....

There was also a stall teaching the kids to do Key chains. They just need to take a piece of paper, and draw and put stickers on them. And we will place a plastic on them to make it a key chain!

There was also a stall to teach kids to make bracelets....

The most favourite stall was the "BOWLING ALLEY", whereby kids just need to take the ball and hit the pins! Shariffar played 3 times!!!
There were also other stalls like the DARTS stall, the SOCCER stall and the FISHING stall. But I was too busy running around and carrying all their bags and prizes that I really cannot stop to take any photos!

The only time that I can catch a breather was during the magic show whereby all the kids are seated for 30 mins... But then still, I had to stand behind and look after them...

My feet were hurting already by 5 plus... But then, I felt very happy and glad that the kids were enjoying themselves...

Finally for a group photo!!! There were just too many people, so I didn't bother to stand in.... =)

It was just a 4-hour duty and it really tire me out totally!!! There was rain, then sun, then rain again throughout the afternoon and by the time we took the kids back to SADeaf, I was totally soaked to the skin (soaked in rain and sweat).....

It was really a good outing trip for the kids and I hope to do more of such volunteer work lah... Can slim down leh!!!!

EQ ~ I am expert de!!!

Just took a course on "EQ in building Relationship"...

It was an interesting course... At first I thought it sounded very 费 de lor... EQ mah... can be taught de meh??

Anyway, after the course, I was pleasantly surprised that I am actually very PRO already! Becos I am already practising most of the stuff that were taught during the course!

For example, the "6-second" rule during "hijack" moments. Whenever we encountered "hijack" moments (define as that particular split moment whereby we were being interrupted or hijacked by other people and that our emotions rise up to near explosion), we need to stop and take "around 4-6 sec" (or some people define it as "take a deep breath") before reacting. With that "6-sec" pause, we will be able to allow some negative emotions to pass by and to reaccess the situation better without getting too emotional.

Also, the course also taught us to be "optimistic", which I always did (pertaining to work only lah...). I always preach my staff to adopt "positive" thinking ....
