Po Lam Chan Monastery

I always heard abt the famous Po Lam Chan Monastery, which housed the biggest Buddha statue in Asia... Aaron Kwok once filmed a show there too!! I have been to HK many times liao, but a trip to this temple didn't cross my mind at all.. And when my deardear mentioned abt this Monastery, I thought that this might be a chance for me to go see see look look...

I am not a Buddhist, by the way... But it is very refreshing to go to temples sometimes to pray abit and offer some donations and such. I used to go temples when I was young. But eversince my parents converted to Christianity, I was left as a Free-thinker now...

Anyway, as this was my first time to Po Lam Chan Monastery, I looked up the map and was guided to take the MTR to Tung Chung station at Lantau island and to change to a bus to reach Po Lam Chan Monastery.

Finally, after 30minutes ride, we arrived at Tung Chung MTR.. There was a big shopping centre there, called the Citygate, I think! Although still under construction at certain parts and some shop spaces were empty, I think this place will be a major attractions when all these renovation works are done! And this shopping mall is near the bus terminal to the Po Lam Chan Monastery, thus this place will be one of the tourist attractions!


The bus terminal.... We saw the bus and we ran to board it!!! Hahahah! It had been a long time since I ever ran to catch a bus... (The last time was when I was in Secondary One. I was late thus, I ran for the bus!!)


Finally.... After 45 minutes of dangerous bus ride, we reached the place...


From far, the statue exuded a kind of peaceful feeling...



We decided to climb the stairs up to the top..




We have to buy the tickets to get up into the Buddha statue. This ticket came with a free Vegetarian meal at the Po Lam Chan Monastery.

Anyway, after puffing and panting, we finally made our way to the top liao!!! Wowowo!! I lost count of the steps liao... But I was really very tired by then...

There are some statues besides the buddha... They looked like the Buddha's disciples and were each carrying some symbolic items...

We spotted a small pagoda in the midst of the trees...


There were some scriptings on the base of the Buddha... And although there was a sign that reads "Please do not touch", we were one of those itchy-handed people who couldn't help ourselves but touch the buddha... Please pardon us, ok?


Ok... We knew that we had to climb down those steps soon... Sian... Take a break!



We had to get going now... Very foggy liao!!


We went down and it was easier than I thought... Anyway, we walked to the Monastery to see see look look.. We also had our tickets to redeem for some Vegetarian food..



And there we were! The Vege food!

At first we thought we will be given just a drink. But we were shocked to be given so much food! Each ticket was entitled to one plate of beehoon, 2 dim-sums and one bowl of soyabean curd! WOWO!!!

This is the place for us to eat... A simple no-frill eatery... We had to clear our own plates after eating...


Well, we can't finish our food of course... After that, we caught the same bus to return to Tung Chung MTR station to venture to our next destination... The Peak! (See next entry)

The Peak

I have been to The Peak many many times liao!! But I have to bring my Deardear there mah.... I was super tired by then, cos we climbed up and down the stairs at Po Lam Chan Monastery (See previous entry)

Anyway... we had to take an MTR from Tung Chung station back to Central station, and from there, we had to walk a distance to take the Peak Tram station...


I was so super tired liao lah.... Hahahha!! I was so weak leh...

Anyway, we arrived at the peak tram station!!!




And I really enjoyed the ride... Although this ride was short, but I like the feeling of going uphill and a steep one!



This is my Deardear's first time taking the Peak tram!


And we like to make funny faces!!!! Yahahahah!!!

Unfortunately, the Peak station was under renovation that period, thus we cannot go up to the top level to view the nice scenery. Anyway, it was really foggy that day and we couldn't see much...



So we just took a walk inside the Mall and took a break at the cafe...

Anyway... the sky was getting really dark and we decided to leave liao...

Trust me.. I was REALLY REALLY REALLY tired by then....

Central and Lan Kwai Fong

After visiting The Peak (See previous entry), we took the peak tram back to Central and tried to find that long escalator... But after some walkings around, we couldn't find it...

But anyway, it didn't matter lah... So we walked around Central and made our way to Lan Kwai Fong (LKF) for our Happy Hours drinks!


We were both quite tired from all the walkings for the day, thus we were not interested to do any shopping for the moment...


Finally, we reached LKF! And we saw the famous Yung Kee Restaurant! It was famous for the roast goose and my friend whom stayed in HK for many years urged me to go and try the goose at Yung Kee... So we did! Or rather my deardear did... (I don't take roast goose by the way) And according to my deardear, it was very very good!!!


As it was a Thursday, LKF was a bit deserted...




We popped into a pub for a drink and asked the bartender for some good recommendations on the most happenning clubs there. He recommended us to go to this club called "HE He", which means "Xi" in chinese.

We found the "HE HE" club and we took the lift to the 3rd level... But..........

We were rejected at the door as my Deardear was in bermudas and T-shirt.. No big deal lah! And they charged cover charges too! Chay!! As if we want to go in like dat! Huh!!!

Anyway, we decided to head back to our hotel as both of us were really really tired.. My feet hurt so much tat I thought they were dying...

We headed back to Kowloon and went to visit Ladies Street (Click here) and Temple Street (Click here) before heading back to hotel...

But we did go back to LKF again the next day, which is our 3rd day in HK... (Please click here)
