Indochine Wisma Atria 1st Anniversary & "New Look" re-Launch

It was Indochine Wisma Atria's 1st Anniversary Party as well as the launch of their "New Look" after renovation.

I must admit that this whole place looks bigger and better in terms of space usage. And although there's not much major renovation around, only some rearrangement of furnitures and some new lightings, at least this place gives old regular customers like me some fresh new feelings!

Anyway, as usual, this place was packed from 8pm onwards... And I met up with alot of suppliers and old friends here. I tried to take some photos with my new toy. But as I am relatively an idiot with cameras, the pictures did not turn out as well as I wanted them to.. And my face was "illuminated" (like a pale yellowish spirit, with a little liver problem), think I shouldn't have used the "night-mode" effect... Well, anyway, no matter how reluctant I am to publish these badly-taken photos, I am obliged to do so as some of my friends are already asking for it! No choice lah...

Well, of course, first of all, I must pay tribute to the man behind Indochine! That's Michael Ma (middle). He is the dude of the entire Indochine Group. And that's my new GM, Hans. He just came to Singapore a few weeks ago.



Well, then I spotted some of my handsome guys! Cheers!



He is Rudi, the F&B guy-in-charge... A super nice and soft-spoken guy... Oh my, I looked so fat besides him.. Burr...



This is Pinto, the outlet operations manager of Wisma Atria... I really loved his attire. So cool and sexy!! Haha!



Hey and that's Karen, the Asst. Mktg Manager.



Can't miss this guy though. He is Clement, one of the funniest guy I have ever met! He is always full of rubbish and I won't get left-out with him around cos he will always try to "take care" of me.

And then I spotted Melvin, the JUICey guy always at parties, events, functions, etc... Oh my god, I really looked like a "yellowish elf". Think I should "sack" my new camera! Sigh...


Ok, am ready to leave now. Need to rush to my friend's birthday party. So one final photo with the important guys...


And just as I was about to leave, saw some of my ex-business partner, Freddie! He's with HSBC now and I prompted him to take a photo with his team.



Did I hear some complains that my photos are taken with mostly guys?? Well, what to do? I am the rose among all the thorns!! Hahahah!

Bar None Anniversary

I am not commissioned to do this, but since I was there yesterday night and I happened to have my new toy with me, I decided to just take a few shots to test my camera's "night-mode" function.

Well, for those who had no idea what is Bar None, this is a pub-cum-disco, situated within The Marriott Hotel at Orchard Road. The main attraction of this place would be its resident live-band. This band draws a huge crowd and got large follower-base.

And yesterday was Bar None's 6 Anniversary party. And oh my! This place was super packed! I nearly couldn't get my way through the crowd.. And trust me, at that moment I would give up anything just to be a bit taller! Everyone there were towering over me! Everyone just seemed to be taller and me, contrastly shorter! If I knew am going to Bar None, I would have wore my super-high-heeled boots!

Anyway, jsut realised that my camera got low-batt, thus I only managed to take these few shots.

Well, this is Bar None's 6th Annviersary party and it has definitely come a long way.
It is amazing to get such good crowd and support for such long time. And more years to go, I reckon.

Further disclosure of my place... Back by popular demand!

There you go!

Back by popular demand, more pictures on the place that I am staying now. There are really too many things to say about this place that I am putting up now, so I will do it in "series-style", just like drama series! Thus, stay "tuned" as there's more to come!

First of all, I will give an experiential guide to my place.

This is my front gate (See previous post on "A peek at my place"). All tenants will be given an access card to access this gate. Thus, the security is very well-done.



See the white door on the right-side of the gate? This is a 2-room unit at ground floor just beside the gate. This tenant (Whom just shifted in about 3 months ago) has a front porch with a nice garden table and beautiful landscapes. This is definitely a nice place to sip wine and enjoy a quiet afternoon.


Ok, back to the tour..
After accessing the front gate, you will see this nice, well-lit staircase.



See those sculptures lining along the stairway? This is one of the landlord's efforts to preserve the traditional peranakan-styled decor of this place. I will zoom into the decor in the later "series".


After that, you will reach my door!

See the nice tiles on my door? This is the old door decor passed down from about 50 yrs ago. It is very difficult to find such decor in this modern days. Thus, all this makes this place very nostalgic, with a slight hint on the pre-war living style.

A peek at my wardrobe!

I am actually quite embarrassed to disclose my wardrobe, but I guess this blog will be more interesting if I add in real-life pictures and stories about my way of living and my various habits. I hate reading things that are not real.

Well, take a deep breath, as I am going to disclose some pictures of my messy habits..

Someone commented that my wardrobe looks as if it had been ransacked a while ago! Haha! How true it looked! Seemed like a scene from "Crime-watch"...



A close up on the bottom shelf... So messy that I couldn't give a damn to clear it up. Well, this is so messy! How can I clear it up? I really don't know where to start clearing! Someone can help??



Anyway, this is the 2nd half of my wardrobe. Equally messy.



And combining both messy wardrobe into one, it is even MESSY!


Can't blame me though. I really have no idea where to start clearing up.

Hack! I will just close the wardrobe-door then! See no evil! Ha ha!

"CCC" = Chips & Crackers Craze

I really wonder would anyone agree with me, that most girls like to nibble and snack on crackers, potato chips and biscuits... It is genetic and we can't change it...

Or rather, I think I am trying to find excuse for myself.

Well you see, I am truly one great "professional snacker". I love snacks, I love fast food and I love anything that falls into the "Junk food" category. See previous posts on "Recipe Revealed!" & "My Fav Snack")

If there's going to be a reality documentary on "Bad Eating Habits", please get in touch with me. I can give you all the info you want on "Why, When. What, How, Where" regarding junk food. Besides info, I can share with you the feelings, the thrills, and the passion I hold for junk food.

Think these snack-companies should get me to endorse their chips and snacks becos I am one die-hard loyal fan of almost any snacks.

Anyway, AGAIN, since I had my camera with me (New camera, you know!), I might well take down some more evidences of my bad snacking problem.

I am so proud of all these! I actually wanted to stock up more, but I didn't have enough cash with me just now at the mart.

Anyway, since I am free now, let me introduce you to my "lunch".


Ladies & Gentlemen. My all-time favourite chips:- Honey Djion Kettle Chips!
This is one of my fav so far. the chips are crispy, yet not too "thin". And I like the special "sweet yet sour yet salty" taste. Anyway, will only describe more if they can pay for this advertisement fee! Ha ha!



The next in line is: Calbee Big Bag Potato Chips!

I would want to commend Calbee for inventing such big bag. Last time, I used to buy 2 packs cos the normal pack size is so small! And worse still, it is full of air inside! For religious potatochips eaters like me, small pack is definitely not enough! Good work Calbee!! You rock!




Well, last in line, but not least, it is Calbee Original Prawn Cracker.

Although I love Calbee Spicy Prawn Cracker better, this is not bad either. However, this kind of crackers have to eat in moderate, cos the taste gets too "raw" and "tasteless" after a small pack. Thus, always go for the smaller packaging. You won't go wrong.

My Favourite Snack!

I can't help it but to record this down...

I have this habit of snacking and eating maggie mee (see previous post) since I was very young. And since then, I can't seem to cut it down. That's also the reason why I can't slim down... Sigh... Always yelling that I want a diet, but in the end, it was myself that ruined my whole diet plan..

Anyway, since I had my camera with me, I might as well take down some "evidence" of my snacking habit... Sure to shock all of you!

This is one of my favourite biscuits!!! Yummy!!


"Chicken in a Biscuit"

Well, as you can see from the photo, the biscuit is very salty but delicious!

Notice that there's still alot inside the bag! Yippee!!


However, it took me less than 5 minutes to wipe out the whole gang of biscuits! Oh my! Another record time!

Now it's empty!

Well, it's very common to spot emptied snack packaging in my dustbin... Even the cleaning Aunty knows about my atrocious snacking habits!




Anyway, that's my lunch, mind you... Got to get back to work now...

Recipe Revealed!

Well, if you are looking for a nice French cuisine or a delicious Mummy-style Chinese food, then pls be disappointed. Becos I can't cook at all and I am actually quite proud of this "lack of culinary skills".

Anyway, last night I suddenly have this impulse to show to the world the correct way of cooking the world's best Maggie Mee! I have been a loyal fan of Maggie Mee since the day I can eat. Let's put aside those talks abt MSG or hair-dropping stories and just enjoy a bowl of hot and spicy Maggie Mee!!

My favourite brand of Maggie Mee is this:-


It is very important to choose the best quality Maggie mee if you want to enjoy the heavenly taste of it.

Easy Steps!!!

Step 1:- Put the mee into a bowl of water and placed it into the microwave for about 3.5 minutes. Then take it out. It will look like this:-


Step 2:- Drained all water (leave a little bit for easy stiring later).


Step 3:- Put in all seasoning powder. (I know, just ignore those health-conscious talks, ok? If you are that health-concious, then you shouldn't be reading this anyway!)


Step 4 :- Put in all the yummy spicy seasoning oil. I can smell it already! Yummy Yummy!


Step 5 :- Mixed all well and... All ready to eat!!!


I was so hungry that I finished the whole bowl within a record time of 54 seconds!



Just another recommendation... After a hearty meal of my spicy delicious maggie mee, it is best to drink some Chinese tea. Since everything in my house are "Instant", my tea is also those "instant bag" type.

The best tea to go with the above maggie mee is "Iron-Budha" tea.


This tea is not very bitter, yet it has a kind of twinkling taste that will compliment the spicy after-taste of the maggie mee.

Put the teabag into a cup, big enough for a good drink. (Not those small wayang type hor!)


And then, a nice piping hot tea is ready to complete the world's best meal ever!


So satisfied after the meal that I really can't think of anything else to say.....

My Buta-san

"Buta-san"?? Nanno kore?

Well, let you make a wild guess!




Haha! Can't guess what is this right? But it is really very cute, right??

Ladies and Gentlemen, may I officially introduce my soul-mate cum buddy, Mr Buta-san! Let me tilt it a little and disclose what it is actually...

Tada!



Buta-san is actually my tissue-paper holder. So kawaii ne!!

The name "buta-san" was given after I watched a Japanese cartoon movie. Can't really remember the title, but it was about a story of a little girl who was always late for anything and extremely lazy. One day she found herself accidentally saved a cat, which turned out to be the Prince of the "Cat-World". Out of appreciation, the Cat-King wanted her to be the wife of the Prince and brought her to the Cat-World.

However, she did not want to be turned into a cat and thus went to seek the help of a kind-hearted cat-warrior. This cat-warrior got 2 best friends, one was a fat, fluffy, white greedy cat named "Buta-san" (hey hey! That's how I got the name for my "cat"!) and a crow.

Thus, the adventure started with these 4 fellas trying to beat the Cat-King to escape out of Cat-World. And finally, as every story would end, this little girl overcame her laziness and realised her mistakes. She then eventually managed to fight her way out of the Cat-world and returned back to her own world.

And as expected, she became very diligent and puncture since then. A fairy tale!

Ok, so that's why I gave my "cat" the name "Buta-san", cos it looks fat and lazy enough to carry the name well. By the way, "Buta" means "pig" in Japanese. Thus, the meaning of "laziness and fat".

A peek at my place...

Due to popular demand, I finally decided to disclose the place where I put up now.
I found this small studio apartment about 4 months ago.

Nostalgic?

I really feel for this place. This is the first time I have stayed in pre-war conservation house... And I guess most people won't have this chance to step into one. According to my house agent, this place has a whopping history of about 50years, even older than Singapore (whom is just 40 yrs old).

And according to my house agent again, the landlord actually re-did and renovated the whole terrace house about 5 years ago. Thus, the outward appearance did not look as run-down as some other conservation houses. The interior is also fully modernised. A fresh coat of paint will be done every year, thus every unit has a new cleaned look, despite the age of the place.

Ah yes, forgot to mention that I lived on the 2nd level. (see pic). There are altogether 6 units, incl. me. Mine is the smallest unit, considered a studio apartment. I only have about 500sqft of space... A small bedroom, a small pantry area and a small living room that is just enough to place a TV set and a sofa-bed.

All in all, I love my place. It has a slight peranakan-feel to it. The doors, the windows and the flooring still retained the old-time colonial style. And for modern girl like me, who had been living in flats and Condo all this while, this place is really a nice change for me.

Anyway, the rental here is cheap, cos I think, this whole place is shared among 6 families... But strangely, for my 4 months stay here, I have never really seen any of my neighbours yet. Thus, I really enjoy the privacy this place offered.

Yohoo!! I finally got my own camera!It's like a dream came true!

hahaha... Although this camera is not those high-end expensive kind.. this has been the most expensive gadget that I have ever bought.... Even my mobile phone was not so expensive, ok!

Anyway, decided to try it out...The most direct way would be.... To take pictures of my table!! Better still, forced myself to clean up my table (haven't been clearing those stuffs on my table for weeks!)
