CNY stress - what to wear!!! :(

It was CNY and as usual, I am stressed over what to wear. Well... Anyone who know me would know that I only have dresses or clothes in a few dark shades of color... Like black, blue, etc. and nowadays I like white too. But then, these colors are not the right colors for CNY lor. Especially when my customers invited me to dinners, I need to make sure I have suitable dresses/clothes to wear lor! And as I am too short and stout to wear cheong-sam, I have to think of other ways... mmmm...

And it was said that I had to wear GREEN to work on first day so that I can HUAT HUAT lor... OMG... Where am I gonna find any GREEN clothes to wear!!! *fainting*...

Anyway it was a few days to first work day and I really need to chiong to buy GREEN clothes. So I went Robinson with my mummy and started to search for GREENies... But too bad, I can't find anything suitable. And suddenly I saw a modern green toga top. But then....

It is BARE-BACK!! Hahahah!!! Might be too revealing to wear to work leh... But no choice! So I decided to buy and then cover up with a jacket! :) Clever right? Hahah!!

Ok... that only solve my first work day... How about the rest of the CNY days??? OMG... I need to go shopping again! :(

Luckily I met Kitty after church that day and she told me H&M might have some cheap and good dresses... I thought H&M is for kids lor.. Sure won't have anything suitable.. But I was so wrong! I found a nice flower dress! Although it might look a bit "orbiang" but it fitted nicely leh. OK lah.. Cannot hiam lah! It cost only less than $50! Yay!!!

Went to my customer's louhei dinner at USS and I wore this dress. Nice!

It was funny... Charlie chaplin wanted to have a pic with me but I was so scared of him! hahha!! Then he grabbed my hand and I no choice had to guai guai take photo with him.. The photo turned out well! :)

Mahjong @Michael's... And I am 大赢家!!!

Really! I didn't expect myself to be the big winner of our CNY mahjong session at Michael's house..

Hahahaha! I am really an amateur for MJ and to be honest, I am still very unclear about the rules and all the "styles" of winning.. Anyway, I only remembered the easiest winning style... I cannot do 什么十三夭 or 碰碰糊 etc  de lor!

Anyway, we started with louhei (HUAT ah!!!) session and dinner before our game!

HUAT AHHHH!!! 发发发啊！！！

Mic bought good dinner for us and he paid a fortune for it! Cos it is holiday and thus, there was surcharge for the food... Thanks Mic!!! :)

After dinner, all of us (actually only Bren is very excited... hahaha!!!) went to set up the MJ table.

So funny, see? Bren actually bought a wooden horse and placed a stack of notes on the horse!! Signifying 马上有钱!! That is soooooooo FUNNY!!!

And she purposely wear GREEN and put super RED lipstick! All prepared to HUAT le!!! So scary!!!

We were counting the chips (money) for the MJ and I was actually more interested in "Chips" as in potato chips! HAHAHA!!! :p

MJ is really not my kind of game as I can't concentrate for long... I told my mummy that I had to bring more money to lose cos I am prepared to lose all! At least I know the maximum is around S$80 only lah... It is OK! :p

But.... After nearly 5 hours, I am actually winning! How can that be??? I have no idea too! :)

I only remembered in-between I had a few 大相公, which Mic forgave me and didn't "charge" or penalty me! Hahah! Heng arh!!! :p

In the end, I won about $22! YAYA papaya lor! But I know I am just being lucky lah... Don't think I will have such luck again! :) Anyway, the main point here is that I enjoyed myself and the company of my friends!

First deposit for 2014! HUAT ah!!!!

It was funny! I didn't know about this "tradition" but apparently this was quite well-known.

The saying goes that if you deposit any cash on the first working day of CNY (depend on which zodiac you were born in), you will have a good year of "money going into the bank"!

Hahaha!! Really?!?! Chinese really have many such interesting tradition! :)

Well, I didn't really believe this but since Betsy is going to do it and I was free that morning, I decided to go with Betsy. We met at TPY hub (as she was going to buy HP and sell it for a profit there), and OMG.... There was a LONG queue at the cash deposit machine!

My "lucky time" was 11am so it was just nice for me... Both of us then queue up and actually it was quite fast lah... About 20min, it was my turn and I deposited $50! LOL!

Hope this year will be a good rich year for me! HUAT AHHH!!!

Lion Dance once again... 2014

Yup! Once again it is lion dance! Every year I will be waiting for this moment as I have a huge crush on Lion dances! I have no idea why! I love hearing the drums and loud noise and the fluffy lions! LOL!

So early in the morning, I arrived at my office and started to wait patiently for the lions...

CNY gathering @Home!

Once again it is CNY!

Previous years, we always have similar steamboat, and with Papa sitting at the table and eating. But as this is our first year without Papa, and although we rather not have steamboat, we still proceed with steamboat for dinner as we know that both Valerie and Roy didn't know what is steamboat and we would like to show them! :)

I went home slightly early that day and went to tabao food at Lor Liew Lian with Mummy. Sis and kids came to our house later and we had a good meal!

Thereafter, Val decided to have fun and helped us cut the Bak kwa into smaller pieces.

And as she cut, she decided to have fun and tried to cut out different shapes and objects.

Lunch on CNY 初一

It is the first day of CNY and we decided to eat Chinese food!

Eating my fav xiao-long-bao! We were rather early (around 11am!) and luckily, there was no queue and we got our table easily! :)

HUAT ah!!!

Decided to go New creation church with Kit...

Kit was back in town and she suggested attending her church on 1 Jan... Since i have nothing to do, I decided to go with her... And what a surprise! I really didn't expect this church to be sooo popular!

We went early, thinking of having breakfast before the church start at 11.30am.

But we were shocked to find out that all the carparks were FULL! Even HDB around the church was full! So we have no choice but to park at the red lots. And we were fully prepared to be "summoned". Haha! Well, it was worth it.

Later I realized that every 1st Sunday of the year is called the "Vision Sunday" where senior Pastor Price will give the theme of the year. This year, the theme was "The year of Greater Glory". Hmmm... Sound very chim...

In any case, the place was sooooooooooo packed that we are unable to attend the 11.30am service. So we sat at a coffee place to wait for the next one at 2.30pm.

 

And finally it is 2.30pm and we went to the church. I really didn't expect that the turn out would be so crazy lor!

 

Even 2.30pm slots were quite full. But we managed to get in... The 2.30pm slot is a telecast of the previous service. It is OK lah.. Guess we have no choice anyway.

 

After the service, we decided to have an early dinner.

Actually I felt really sick after this fish n Chips.. Think it is too oily for my stomach! Not gonna go for this anymore!

Anyway, after that vision Sunday, we decided to go for it again the next Sunday! So we went super early and managed to find a parking! YAY!!!

And we managed to get the number tickets to secure us a seat at 11.30am. But still, we have to queue and wait for about 20 min! OMG!!! Now I am getting used to it though.. haha! Not as surprised as my first time... :)

 

The service was by Pastor Mark and he was hilarious.. Quite a good experience and I would be going to this church often. :)

 

Mum's church charity dinner

Went with my mum and bro to the church's charity dinner event... It was an annual event...

This year is the first time we went without our dad... And to show our appreciation to the church for helping us during our dad's wake, we decided to bid for a painting to donate to the church.

New Year's eve movie night - with Mummy!

Yes, it was the last day of 2013 and as we did not like to crowd around with people doing silly count-down, we decided to book a movie at midnight!

It was really cool! We decided on Jacky Chan's movie: The Police Story 2013... It was a pretty unique movie as it was totally un-like the usual police story... But overall, it was a good movie and just like that, I have crossed over to 2014!
